When it comes to church size, a few things are important to remember. First a church must determine what size they would like to become and start acting like a church of that size if the hope to achieve that goal. Second a church must accept its size and not allow people to demand that they receive the type of treatment they would receive at a church of whatever size they prefer.

Bar gets struck down by lightening and sues the church next door who had prayed that God would close the bar. The bar sued the church and the church denied all responsibility and connection to the bars destruction. The judge read the plaintiff’s complaint and the defendant’s reply at the opening hearing and said, “I don’t know how I’m going to decide this, but it appears from the paperwork that we have a bar owner who believes in the power of prayer, and an church congregation that doesn’t.

Be very careful in church planting be careful to protect the line between work and family particularly when you are starting the church in your home. Be very discerning when you have random people hanging out at your house, and some could be previous sex offenders. Plus you also have the "What about Bob?" syndrome. There is always that one "Bob" guy in every church. Practice hospitality, but do it with great wisdom and discernment. People will molest your kids in the name of church planting.

Over the years, I've just accepted that if I do not quickly open the back door when God is trying to run people out of our Church, I am working against God by keeping sick people in my Church so they can infect others. Indeed the Church is a body and one of the most important parts is the colon. Like the human body, any church body without a colon is destined for sickness that leads to death

"The church is the body of Christ, and if you close the back door of the body you end up with a constipated church!"

72% of the un-churched agreed that the church is full of hypocrites. There is something wrong with the church when the world so readily identifies us as hypocrites. 44% indicated that Christians, "get on my nerves". The things we have become and the ways we have learned to live have kept people from embracing the cross. People are tripping over the church on their way to the cross.

If you look back across the history of the Christian Church, you immediately find that the story of the Church has not been a straight line, a level record of achievement. The history of the Church has been a history of ups and downs. It is there to be seen on the very surface. When you read the history of the past you find that there have been periods in the history of the Church when she has been full of life, and vigour, and power. The statistics prove that people crowded to the house of God, whole numbers of people who were anxious and eager to belong to the Christian Church. Then the Church was filled with life, and she had great power; the Gospel was preached with authority, large numbers of people were converted regularly, day by day, and week by week. Christian people delighted in prayer. You did not have to whip them up to prayer meetings, you could not keep them away. They did not want to go home, they would stay all night praying. The whole Church was alive and full of power, and of vigour, and of might. And men and women were able to tell of rich experiences of the grace of God, visitations of his Spirit, a knowledge of the love of God that thrilled them, and moved them, and made them feel that it was more precious than the whole world. And, as a consequence of all that, the whole life of the country was affected and changed
