Rather than excusing your sin, you should repent of your sin and the condition of your home and seek counsel from your pastor(s) and/or professional Christian counselor(s) on how to be about redemption, like Jesus, rather than blame-shifting, like Adam.

Most churches make the mistake of selecting as leaders the confident, the competent, and the successful. But what you most need in a leader is someone who has been broken by the knowledge of his or her sin, and even greater knowledge of Jesus' costly grace. The number one leaders in every church ought to be the people who repent the most fully without excuses, because you don't need any now; the most easily without bitterness; the most publicly and the most joyfully. They know their standing isn't based on their performance.

In my church, I had heretics calling themselves Christians and I had lazy, selfish Christians calling themsleves mature, I needed to start making the calls. So I started meeting people one on one and calling them everything from sinners who needed to repent, to leaders who needed to lead, to heretics who needed to leave.

You are not an animal. You are the glory of God. You are not a pervert. You are the glory of God. You are not an addict. You are the glory of God. You are not a victim. You are the glory of God. You are not a fool. You are the glory of God. Jesus, the god-man who radiated the Father's glory perfectly, has made it possible for you to be the glory of God. Jesus your King, Warrior, and Lord hung upon his cross in your place to atone for all of your sins, including sexual perversion (Col. 2:13-15). If you repent of your sin, Jesus will forgive you for it and cleanse you from it, thereby taking away your guilt, shame, defeat, and filth (1 John 1:9; Zech. 3:1-9).

In this mindest (postmodern), being a Christian mena being a nice person who loves people no matter what their lives are like by trying to identify with their cultural experiences and perspectives in a non judgemental and empathetic manner. What is lacking, however, is the understanding that when we next see Jesus, he will not appear as a humble, marginalised Galilean peasant. Rather we will see the exalted, tattoed King of Kings comeing with fire blazing in his eyes and a sword launching from his mouth, with which to make war upon the unrepentant. Until the day of Jesus' second coming, we are not merely to relate to people but also to command them to repent of sin and bend their knee to the King before they are grapes crushed under his foot in the winepress of his fury.

There was a man who had a reputation for being the best fisherman on a certain large lake. No one knew how he did it. The others caught maybe one or two fish while he always brought back his limit of large fish. The person who most wanted to find out his secret was the game warden. Without telling him who he was, he got the man to take him with him. Very early in the morning they crossed the lake in the fog. The warden noticed that he no fishing tackle. Well, they finally arrived at a secluded cove and the man opened up a box and pulled out a stick of dynamite. He lit it and threw it in the water. It exploded and a bunch of fish floated to the surface. The warden then told the man who he was and that he was in a lot of trouble. The man started to think, then reached into the box and pulled out another stick of dynamite. He lit it and handed to the warden saying, "Are you going to just sit there or are you going to fish?"
