I am particularly concerned, however, with some growing trends among some people: the rejection of Jeus' death on the cross as a penal substitute for our sins; resistance to openly denouncing homosexual acts as sinful; the questioning of a literal eternal torment in hell, which is a denial that holds up until, in an ironic bummer, you die and find yourself in hell; the rejection of God's sovereignty over and knowledge of the future, as if God were a junior-college professor who only knows bits and pieces of trivie; the rejection of biblically defined gender roles, thereby contributing to the "mantropy" epidemic among young guys now fretting over the best kind of looffah for their skin type and the number of women in the military dying to save their Bed, Bath and Beyond from terrorist attacks; and the rejection of Biblical names for God, such as Father, which is essentially apologising before the unbelieving world for the prayer life of the flamboyantly heterosexual Jesus, who uttered the horrendously polictically incorrect "Our Father" without ever having the decency to apologise for being a mysonogystic patriarchal meanie. This is ultimately all the result of a diminished respect for the perfection, authority and clarity of Scripture, all of which was written by patriarchal men.

Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that Our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.

Woe to us if we get our satisfaction from the food in the kitchen and the TV in the den and the sex in the bedroom with an occasional tribute to the cement blocks in the basement!

Those who interpret a sexual relation in the events reflect their twentieth-century cultural conditioning of sexual permissiveness. They fail to appreciate the element of Ruth’s trust that Boaz would not dishonor her whom he wanted for his wife. They fail to appreciate the cultural taboos of Ruth’s time that would have prevented a man of Boaz’s position from taking advantage of Ruth, thereby destroying her reputation and perhaps endangering his own. Biblical writers were not squeamish about describing sexual encounters, but the writer of Ruth has deliberately refrained from saying there was a liaison between Ruth and Boaz. If read carefully and with sensitivity, it becomes clear that he was saying just the opposite. Both Ruth and Boaz acted virtuously in a situation they knew could have turned out otherwise. Chastity was not an unknown virtue in the ancient world.”

Be very careful in church planting be careful to protect the line between work and family particularly when you are starting the church in your home. Be very discerning when you have random people hanging out at your house, and some could be previous sex offenders. Plus you also have the "What about Bob?" syndrome. There is always that one "Bob" guy in every church. Practice hospitality, but do it with great wisdom and discernment. People will molest your kids in the name of church planting.

Listen, the mood of American life today is, if it feels good, do it, and to hell with your guilt-producing, puritanical principles of chastity and faithfulness. But I say to you, if the stars are shining in their beauty and your blood is thudding like a hammer and you are safe in the privacy of your place, stop . . . for the sake of righteousness. Let the morning dawn on your purity. Don\'t be like the world. Be like Boaz. Be like Ruth. Profoundly in love. Subtle and perceptive in communication. Powerful in self-control. Committed to righteousness.

You are not an animal. You are the glory of God. You are not a pervert. You are the glory of God. You are not an addict. You are the glory of God. You are not a victim. You are the glory of God. You are not a fool. You are the glory of God. Jesus, the god-man who radiated the Father's glory perfectly, has made it possible for you to be the glory of God. Jesus your King, Warrior, and Lord hung upon his cross in your place to atone for all of your sins, including sexual perversion (Col. 2:13-15). If you repent of your sin, Jesus will forgive you for it and cleanse you from it, thereby taking away your guilt, shame, defeat, and filth (1 John 1:9; Zech. 3:1-9).

masturbation is a form of monosexuality because it is sex that does not include another person. Since sex is given for such purposes as oneness (Gen. 2:24), intimate knowledge (Gen. 4:1), and comfort (2 Sam. 12:24), having sex with oneself seems to miss some of the significant biblical reasons for sexual intimacy.

Regarding the functions of sex, the Bible gives the following purposes for marital sex, and each is beneficial to the marriage: Pleasure (Song of Songs) Children (Gen. 1:28) Oneness (Gen. 2:24) Knowledge (Gen. 4:1) Protection (1 Cor. 7:2-5) Comfort (2 Sam. 12:24)

In Paul's day, he accused some people of worshiping their stomachs as their god (Phil. 3:19); in our day it appears that our god has simply moved slightly south. And everyone who settles for the worship of Sex is deep down truly seeking an intimacy, joy, and connection that is only found through faith in relationship with God.
